Mero Beach, Dominica

Dominica is located in the Caribbean, north west of Barbados. I have 3 other bottles of black sand but this one if by far the heaviest I have. In the light it sparkles =] This was given to be by my boyfriends parents.

Papakōlea Beach [green sand beach], Big Island, Hawaii

This sand was brought back home from our trip to Hawaii in 2009. The green colouring is due to the presence of Olivine Crystals in the sand.

Pink Beach, Bermuda

This sand was given to me by a family friend who spent some time in Bermuda =] Lovely crushed pink and white shells.

Ramla Beach, Gozo, Malta

This beautiful rusty sand is from the Island of Gozo, one of the Maltese Islands in the Mediterranean. I&J brought this home

Coopers Beach, New Zealand

This wonderful assortment of crushed shells is from Coopers Beach in NZ. located near Doubtless Bay on the North Island. I&J also brought this home =]

Long Beach, British Columbia, Canada

Here is one from my Province =] This is one of the most amazing, scenic, spectacular places on the West Coast of Canada. Long beach is located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, 3 hour drive from Departure Bay ferry in Nanaimo.

If you plan on visiting BC, It is well worth the drive. Long beach is the longest and largest beach in the Pacific Rim National Park.

This sand was collected on Morgan and Is first trip to Tofino. By the way if you are looking for a hostel, Whalers on the Point is a fantastic place to stay =]

Cuba

This sand was snuck back in Morgans sister, Saras, pocket.

A bit more was added by a family friend who also visited cuba, and the sand looked almost identical, so I figured I would just put them in the same jar… I was running low on jars at the time.

The sand is slightly coarse but very small.The shells are fully intact which is quite impressive.  

Karikari Peninsula , New Zealand.

This is from somewhere on the Karikari Peninsula, on the North Island… I should check to see exactly where it came from, but its beautiful non the less!! This very fine, light grey sand sparkles in the sun.

Kangaroo Island, Australia

Kangaroo Island is just south of Australia, it is famous for its honey and being the largest bee sanctuary in the world.

It has many wildlife protected areas and lots of bird species that are endangered.

I&J gave me this sand.

Basque, Spain, San Sebastian

Ill fill this in later… I dont really know much about this place lol… but I love the sand!

Sandy Bay, Opitu, New Zealand

This is another Black sand. very heavy, fine and sparkles in the light. I really wish I could capture how much some of these sands sparkle.

This is from I&J as well, I sure wouldnt want to walk on this sand in the summer… my feeet hurt just thinking about  it lol

Jibe City, Bonaire

I hope one day, to be able to travel to Bonaire. They have the craziest beaches! This sand is very fine with broken small pieces of coral, and its a fawny colour.

Sumner Beach, Christchurch, New Zealand

This powder fine, beautiful grey sand is from Christchurch. Its the type of sand that you would LOVE to walk in!
